I'm Ellie, a musician based out of the Kent area who's primary focus is percussion and new music. I began my musical studies at a young age playing guitar and other various string instruments. However, it wasn't until high school that my passion for music truly took form, when I learned of the wide world of history and culture that music really had to offer.
I sought to take advantage of my schools programs and became extensively involved in both the instrumental and choral arts. By the time I was a Junior, I began teaching guitar lessons at a private studio where I had studied voice and piano in years prior. After high school I decided to continue my studies at the University of Akron where I studied under Dr. Larry D. Snider and Matt Dudack, learned valuable ensemble and rehearsal skills, and met wonderful guest artists like Michael Spiro, Liam Teague, and Ji Hye Jung. I also taught in Port Antonio, Jamaica through the JAFSP, interned with the Amistad Caribbean Arts Camp and won the Tuesday Musical Scholarship competition before graduating in 2021 with a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance.
Since then, I have been working in the Akron-Canton area as a freelance artist and private lesson teacher. I recently began teaching at a private school in Northeast Ohio, but I've decided to keep up with my home-studio, as well.
The goal for the foreseeable future is to re-launch this site as a publishing company designed to help new and young composers to promote their work, as well a landing page for events and community organizations. There are also plans in the making for a community steel band and drum circle group, both focusing on making music more accessible to people at any age and from all backgrounds!
